Grace Community Church exists to disciple people to an abiding relationship with Jesus Christ so they may abound with fruitfulness to God's glory and their most profound joy. (John 15:1-11)
We are a gospel-centered church, believing in the complete sufficiency of the Word of God for our faith and practice. Through theologically rich corporate worship and expository preaching of the Bible, we seek to disciple people to a deep relationship with Jesus, see their hearts transformed by the gospel, and equip them to proclaim the good news of the gospel throughout our community.
Located in Great Bend, Kansas, the mission of Grace Community Church is to be a force for gospel transformation in our town and in our region. Central Kansas is widely considered to be a "Christian" region, rooted in a generational Bible Belt faith. But the reality is that this area has a gospel vacuum. American cultural religious tradition, nominal Christianity, and political ideologies masked as faith have ravaged this area, leaving many people without an understanding of their own sinfulness, who the real Jesus is, and the restoration and joy that is promised in the gospel.
We exist to fill that void. Through boldly proclaiming Jesus, both inside and outside the walls of the church building, we seek to meet the spiritual need of our community through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our ultimate aim is to see our region come alive with the joy and freedom of the gospel through hearts being regenerated by grace, through faith, and for the glory of God. We pray that through our gospel proclamation, God will lead people to see their own sinfulness, understand their inability to save themselves, and trust in Jesus by faith for salvation and reconciliation. This is how people experience true freedom and joy, and we are passionate about bringing that kind of restoration to our community.
We belong to the Evangelical Free Church of America denomination. The “Free Church” is an association of local churches throughout every region of the United States. There are over 100 E. Free churches in the Kansas-Nebraska district. The name “evangelical” simply means “good news.” The “good news” is that Jesus Christ has opened the way for man to know God and experience the gift of eternal life. The name “free” was adopted to show that a local church is free to govern its own affairs under Christ as its true head.
