Going to anything new–a new school, a new job, or new church, can be an intimidating experience. We want your visit at Grace to be pleasant and non-threatening. In order to make your first visit as easy as possible, we’ve tried to anticipate some questions you might have:
What is your service like?
Our service is usually a little over an hour in length. Our music is contemporary in style, with a wide variety of songs, including some hymns. Grace welcomes people who like to dress casually (t-shirt and jeans) as well as those who prefer more formal attire (a sports coat and tie or a dress) and you will see a mix of both. We want you to be comfortable.
Will you single me out as a visitor or make me stand up?
We will gladly welcome you as you come through the door and give you directions if you need them. The Welcome Center has a gift for you if you stop by, but we will not embarrass you or have all visitors stand.
Where do I park?
Parking is available in lots west and north of the church building. Additional parking is available at Central Kansas Christian Academy’s lot, across the street to the west of GCC, and in Heartland Cancer Center’s lot just to the east of the church. Click the image below for a parking map.
What entrance do I use?
The closest entrance to the sanctuary area and the Welcome Center is through the doors on the west side of the building. The east entrance (under the awning) will also give you immediate access.
When do I need to arrive?
Our worship service begins at 10:30 a.m., with Sunday School (children) and ABF (Adult Bible Fellowships) beginning at 9:15 a.m. Our sanctuary usually has plenty of seats, but arriving five or ten minutes ahead will ensure that you get the seats where you feel most comfortable.
What do I do with my infant or toddler during the worship service?
We have a newly-remodeled nursery (Room 7) with separate areas for birth-18 mos and 18 mos-3 yrs. A pager system will alert you during the service should we need you for any reason. Also, we have a changing table and a private nursing room inside our nursery for your use if necessary (please check with our nursery staff). Greeters at the entryways or the Welcome Center can direct you to the nursery location.
Do you have something for young children during church?
We have Children’s Church available during the worship service for ages 4 thru 3rd grade. Children will be dismissed to Room 6 during the worship service.
Can I keep my children with me during the worship service?
Yes, families are always welcome to worship together, if that is their desire.
Do you have a child safety policy?
Volunteers who work with anyone under the age of 18 are carefully screened to ensure the safety of your children. All volunteers must pass a complete criminal background check, complete an application, and provide references.
Will you be having a communion service the day I visit?
We observe the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of the month. All believers, no matter their church affiliation, are invited to participate.
Will I need a Bible?
You do not have to bring a Bible. We project the words of the sermon text on the screen, and the Scripture is read aloud. We do recommend you have a Bible if you are able.
Will I be expected to give during the offering?
Our offerings are meant to be an act of worship between each person and God. If you are without a church home and you desire a place to give God your offering, then by all means, do so. If you are committed elsewhere, then please be our guest. We do not expect guests to contribute.
Is your sanctuary accessible?
Yes, our building is on one level, and the restrooms off the Worship Center are accessible to people with disabilities.
We'd love for you to join us on a Sunday morning! If you have any additional questions about the church, feel free to contact one of our pastors.
