Living with Enemies

October 5, 2014

Pastor Jon Kelly shares a message this week, "Living with Enemies," from John 15:18-21. [powerpress] John 15:18-21 (ESV)

“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.”

Part of following Christ is making enemies.

  • You’re not alone.
  • Don’t compromise.
  • Don’t stop learning.

Parent Connection Questions:

  • When was a time you really embarrassed yourself?
  • Were you ever noticed because you did something you knew was right but others didn’t like?
  • Can you think of a famous Bible character who was made fun of because he/she did what was right?
  • Christ was hated by people though he never sinned. What is one way you could be Christ-like this week, even though it might not be the “cool" thing to do?
